We’re officially in Spring! The first day of the new season started last week, and even though it may not feel like it yet, the weather’s warming up and the days are getting longer. After a harsh winter season we are so ready for a change of scenery -- and we think you probably are too!
Today’s blog post features hair and makeup tips for Spring to give you a fresh look for the new season. Check out the trends below!
2019 Spring Hair Trends
Channeling the regrowth and new beginnings that comes in Spring, this season inspires dramatic changes and fresh looks. With that in mind, it’s no wonder one of the biggest trends for the season involves chopping off length into a stylish blunt bob. This look is structured and sleek with very minimal layers. It’s a fresh cut for spring that we’re absolutely loving! Check out the look below from @NovaArts salon.
Looking to change up your hairstyle but don’t want to chop the length? Try adding feathered layers. This trend adds dimension and body, which can help give life to hair struggling to recover from the winter dredges. It’s also super versatile and low-maintenance. If you’re looking for an easy, quick update this season, the feathered layer is it! We love this take on the trend from well-known Los Angeles hair salon @ninezeroone.
The Bardot Bangs, or Curtain Bangs as some people refer to them, are a huge trend this season. These middle-part, swooped bangs work for any length of hair and give an instant boost of style. The great thing about these bangs is that they are easy to style -- blow dry them to add volume, air dry for a natural look or add a slight curl with a curling iron. And, because the bangs hit at your cheekbone, the “growing out” process is painless too. Once you’re ready to be done with the bangs, just let them grow out into long layers. We love this take on bardot/curtain bangs from fashion blogger @CaraLoren.

Lip Gloss: Pinks, Corals, and Reds
Ready to have some poppin’ lip gloss this season? Then check out the latest spring and summer color trends from Project Runway star Brandon Maxwell. In his Spring/Summer 2019 collection, he channelled the colors found in the Texas landscape in his latest collection. In doing so, he’s started a big trend in lip color this season -- bringing out the pale pinks, orangey reds, and coral browns.
A Subtle Cat-Eye
Makeup trends have come on gone but the cat-eye has been a staple for years. This season, the cat-eye gets an update. As seen on Spring 2019 runway shows, the cat-eye returns with a more subtle look paired with a pop of spring colors like pale pink, lavender, and dusty brown. The key to getting this look right is to use the liquid eyeliner sparingly (no thick black lines) and to create a subtle upwards swoop off the corner of the eye. We love the tutorial on how to apply the perfect cat-eye liner from Instagram beauty influencer @ClairAshleyBeauty below.
Nude and Neutral Eye Shadows
Last but not least, this Spring we’re seeing new trends in the application of eye shadow. This season it’s all about subtle and natural colors. As seen in the Tory Burch Spring/Summer 2019 collection, the eye shadows are primarily nude, neutral or earthen brown tones paired with light pink lips. It’s a distinct departure from the dark colors and highly contoured techniques of seasons past. We love the more natural, effortless look. Try it out on yourself and see how you like it!
