The dreaded blackhead. Ugh! The pesky, pore-clogging, oil-filled, blackhead is one of the most common skin problems. It’s especially common in people with naturally oily skin — which I happen to have. Aren’t I lucky?! While using a pore strip over the weekend, I thought, ‘Eureka! That’s what I should post about this week: a DIY Cleansing Facial to rid yourself of blackheads.’
And so, dear ladies and gents, today we’re featuring natural DIY remedies to get rid of blackheads. From superfoods that help your improve skin health to at-home scrubs, HAPARI found the best and most effective (you better believe I tried these!) methods to rid yourself of blackheads once and for all.
Try these and let us know how they work for you!
Step 1: Open Pores
Steam a pot of water and (carefully) place your face above the steam as the water cools. This helps open your pores and helps cleansing be more effective. Try this 1-2 times a week for clearer skin!
Step 2: DIY Face Mask
There are a lot of DIY face masks out there, but our tried-and-true favorite is this recipe! It works great at targeting blackheads and it’s made from simple products found in your pantry. No need to go to the store and buy anything. Win-win!
- 2 Tsp Lemon
- 2 Tsp Honey
- 1 Egg Yolk
- 2 Tsp Sugar
Combine the mixture until it creates a paste. With a clean face, apply mask. Let sit for 10-15 minutes and then gently rinse off with water.
Step 3: Easy-Peasy Toner
Once you’re done opening your pores and cleansing your face with a mask, it’s time for a toner. Try this DIY toner recipe to help brighten your skin! We love that it’s made from two easy ingredients – Apple Cider Vinegar and water. Easy peasy. Combine these two products in equal parts, and then apply with a cotton swab to your face.
Step 4: DIY Moisturizer
Our last step in the blackhead removal process is to use a moisturizer. Oily skin especially needs moisture. Although it may seem counter intuitive, oily skin may actually lack oil and therefore be overproducing to compensate. Make sure to lather on a good moisturizer – like this one. 🙂
- 3/4 Cup Coconut Oil
- 2 Tbs Aloe Vera Gel
- 8-10 Drops of Essential Oils
Simply mix ingredients together and apply to a clean, freshly washed face.
Reminder: Eat Healthy Foods
Alright, this is an overall tip for good health, EAT HEALTHY! I put that in caps as a reminder to everyone (myself included) that we need to give our bodies the right fuel. One of the most important ways to keep skin healthy is to eat healthy foods. That means eating lots of green veggies and fruit, skipping foods high in sugar, and drinking plenty of water. Foods we suggest munching on: almonds, watermelon, wheat grass, oranges, carrots, spinach, pomegranate and whole grains.
Ok HAPARI fans, try these steps for a DIY Cleansing Facial, and let us know what you think! What works and what doesn’t? Have any favorite remedies or tips to share? We’d love to hear ‘em and share them with our entire HAPARI community of over 100k followers on Facebook.
