Easter weekend is just a few weeks away, to help you celebrate the holiday and changing of the seasons, we’ve compiled a list of fun and easy family-friendly craft ideas you’ll love doing with the family! In fact, we’d bet your kiddos will be egg-static about making these crafts, all yolks aside. Ha! We just had to throw the puns in there. ;)

4) DIY Bunny & Animal Masks

Craft: This craft is a quick and easy DIY project your kids will love making. The best part? These bunny masks make for some awesome pictures and memories (your kids will love when you show their future dates these pics!) They’re also extremely easy and relatively mess-free; something we know all you busy parents out there will appreciate.

Set up: 5 minutes max - this is a really easy craft to set up!

Activity time: This activity should keep the kids engaged and learning/creating for approximately 30-45 minutes.

Materials:

  • White paper plate
  • Glue stick
  • Colored pencils
  • Construction paper (specifically black)
  • Popsicle stick
  • Scissors

Directions

Cut out the bottom of the paper plate by carefully tracing the inside rim of the plate. Cut out eye holes for your maska s well. This will be used as the bottom part of the mask. Next cut strips and shapes of construction paper to use as your animal’s facial features. Use your glue stick to secure the colored construction paper to the plate. Once the plate is decorated to your liking, glue the popsicle stick to the inside of the plate to hold up your mask.

3) Springtime Paper Animals & Flowers

Craft: Help teach your kids about all the new springtime animals they can expect to see this season. From new baby birds to bunnies, chicks and lambs, Spring is the time when many animals give birth. It’s also the time flowers start to bloom and push through the dirt. Set aside an afternoon for an easy craft creating paper animals and flowers representing the new season. These make great Easter gifts to give to friends, family, teachers or neighbors. They’re also really quick and easy to make! Check out how to make these lil’ critter friends below.

Set up: 5-10 minutes

Activity time: 30 minutes

Materials:

  • Construction paper
  • Hot glue and hot glue gun
  • Craft pipe cleaners
  • Googly eyes
  • Puff balls
  • Feathers
  • Markers or crayons

Directions

Help your kids cut out the shapes for the animal or flower they want first. Think of simple shapes to cut out like a circle, square, or triangle. Then use different colored construction paper and hot glue to create a unique work of art. Add fun accessories like pipe cleaners, puff balls or cotton balls, or googly eyes. Add details with markers or crayons. Have fun!

2) Stamped Watercolor Art

Craft: Create pretty stamped watercolor pictures to celebrate Easter! We love the floral prints above but you can also try creating animal characters, eggs, easter baskets, or whatever other Springtime or Easter-related image you want. For a more sophisticated look, try doing a variety of plants and fauna; these are perfect to frame and hang as a collection.

Set up: 10 minutes

Activity time: 45 minutes

Materials:

  • Makeup sponges
  • Paper
  • Watercolor paints
  • Brush
  • Cup of Water

Directions

Cut your makeup sponges into a few different shapes. These will be your painting ‘tools’ or stamps, so be sure to cut a variety of shapes and sizes. We recommend cutting a variety of sizes: rectangular thin slices, round circular squares, triangle shapes of all sizes, thick squares, and half-moon shapes. Once you have all of your shapes cut out, carefully dip your sponge into the paint and ‘stamp’ it on the paper by pressing it firmly in one spot, holding it steady for a few seconds, then lift straight up. The longer you hold the stamp on the paper and the more paint on the stamp, the more saturated the colors (and vice versa!). Keep stamping until you’ve created your watercolor masterpiece!

1) Color and Dye Easter Eggs

Craft: The most classic and well-known Easter craft? Dying Easter eggs of course! We couldn’t have a list of fun and easy Easter crafts without also including this one. This fun tradition started as a way for Christians to remember and celebrate Christ’s crucifixion. Today, the tradition extends past a religiously-associated activity to one that marks the changing of the seasons and celebrates the holiday. No matter how old your kids are, this is a fun classic activity to do this holiday!

Set up: 10 minutes

Activity time: 30-45 minutes

Materials:

  • Eggs
  • Water cups
  • Food Coloring
  • Spoon/dipping utensil
  • Empty Egg Carton

Directions

The best thing about dying Easter eggs? There are no rules! Do it however you and your kids want to! We like to create separate cups of water with a few drops of food coloring in each cup. Then use a spoon or an egg dipper to place the egg (or a portion of the egg) in the water. Hold it there for 30 seconds - 1 minute to ‘dye’ the shell color. Add designs, sparkles, glitter, stickers -- whatever you want -- to create your own unique colored Easter eggs! Share the love by bringing some of your colored eggs to friends and family members. When you’re ready to eat, just crack the shell, add some salt and pepper and eat away!
